I Am a Unique Person Because… I am my own person

20 self improvement goals for 2020

Authenticity does not come easily for many. It’s not easy for many of us to acknowledge that we are unique and we can be our own person. If I could give you one gift in life, it would be the gift of self-awareness.

It’s by being self-aware that you can learn who you really are, understand yourself so well that you are comfortable being unique and be your own person.

How can you develop this kind of authenticity and be unique?

Take a self-awareness course

Take time to explore your self-awareness. This is a process that takes a long time but I can get you started with a course. This self-awareness explorative content helps you explore within your inner self.

You explore what makes you the person you are today, what contributes to your personality, what your personality says about you and why you act the way you do.

When you become self-aware, you learn that you are a unique individual. This helps you not have unrealistic expectations of yourself and of others and you learn to be comfortable with who you are as a person.

As a result, you become a confident, comfortable person than knows that, yes, I am unique, I was made this way, and I can be my own person.

Continually work on yourself

9 ways to improve your lifeI cannot lie to you that taking one course or attending one seminar will help you come to terms with who you are. No. You need to continually work on yourself. One way I do this is through reading different books that discuss topics such as psychology and personal development.

The more you make yourself a project and seek a better understanding of who you are, the more you will develop as a person and become stronger as an individual and therefore more authentic.

Be comfortable in your own skin

20 self improvement goals for 2020There are things you cannot change about yourself. You cannot be taller or shorter, you cannot be lighter or darker, you cannot change where you come from, there are so many things that you cannot change about yourself.

Knowing this, you need to accept who you are, the perfections and imperfections, and be comfortable in your own skin. When you accept who you are, you exude confidence that you are a unique and own person.

Have some value and principles

A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything

Be unique and authenticHave you ever seen people who can’t be consistent in their own character? When they go to this team they sway to the values of this team and the same for another? They behave differently depending on where they are?

Such an individual has no character and is seen as pretentious. It’s very hard to trust such a person because they are so spineless. However, people who have some values and principles will stand for them even when they are alone in it.

This is a person worth respecting and they get admired for being unique and being their own person. When you have some values and principles that guide you, you’ll not be easily swayed by the events around you. You’ll be confident to stand your ground even when it isolates you.

Stephen Covey, in his book The 7 habits of highly effective people talks about being a person of principle, such that the decisions you make are guided by principle.

This way, whether you are making a decision in a relationship, professionally, or even socially, your principle influences how you move. It’s very rare to find yourself on the wrong path if you allow your principles to guide you.
